The Executive and Members of the Nigeria In Diaspora Organization (NIDO) in Ghana have pledged their total support and cooperation to the newly appointed Chief Executive of the Nigeria Diaspora Commission Hon. Abike Dabiri.
This was contained in a congratulatory letter issued by the Executives of the Nigerian nationals residing and doing business in Ghana for her elevation to that high office.
The Senior Special Adviser to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora was a three-term member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in Lagos between 2003 and 2015.
As a Reps member, she was chairman of House Committee on Diaspora Affairs; and had sponsored the bill seeking the establishment of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission.
The congratulatory letter signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs of the NIDO group in Ghana, Mr. Oscar Ugoh, said her elevation to the exalted office of the Chief Executive Office of the Nigeria Diaspora Commission is a well-deserved one because of her dedicated service and sustained commitment to the Welfare of Nigerians in Diaspora.
According to the Nigerian group in Ghana, Hon. Abike Dabiri’s commitment to making peace among Nigerians in several nations and her desire for Nigerians to be law abiding and live in harmony wherever they are found, will play an important role in strengthening the working relationship between Nigerians in Diaspora and the Nigeria Embassies and High Commissions in various countries.
Abike Kafayat Oluwatoyin Dabiri-Erewa was born in Jos Plateau State. She is a Nigerian politician and former member of the Nigeria Federal House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Constituency in Lagos State. She was the Chairman of the House Committee on Media & Publicity.
She was also the former Chair of the House Committee on Diaspora Affairs, and was elected for the first time in 2003, and re-elected in 2007 and 2011.
In 2015 She was appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora.
