{"id":1540,"date":"2026-05-17T14:27:33","date_gmt":"2026-05-17T14:27:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africanewsradio.com\/?p=1540"},"modified":"2026-05-17T14:27:35","modified_gmt":"2026-05-17T14:27:35","slug":"a-r-path-ghana-health-service-marks-world-hypertension-day-with-a-call-to-ensure-regular-check-ups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africanewsradio.com\/index.php\/a-r-path-ghana-health-service-marks-world-hypertension-day-with-a-call-to-ensure-regular-check-ups\/","title":{"rendered":"A\/R: PATH, GHANA HEALTH SERVICE MARKS WORLD HYPERTENSION DAY WITH A CALL TO ENSURE REGULAR CHECK-UPS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>PATH Ghana together with Ghana Health Service has commemorated the World Hypertension Day on May 17, 2026, with a call for residents to undergo regular blood pressure check-ups.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s theme was \u201cControlling Hypertension Together: check your blood pressure regularly, defeat the silent killer.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the commemoration, a free health screening exercise was organised to screen the residents in the various districts its surrounding communities in the Ashanti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The screening was on hypertension, popularly known as pressure, was not at any cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the screening exercise, residents were sensitised on critical topics, checking blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and providing general wellness advice, all for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some beneficiaries also received relevant medication and counselling, whereas those with critical cases were referred for further treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Robert Yeboah, Programme director of Healthy Heart Africa, PATH Ghana in an interview with the media emphasized the importance of regular check-ups in preventing and controlling hypertension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that the exercise was to raise awareness about hypertension and promote early detection and control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the exercise was to complement the efforts of PATH Ghana and Ghana health services to address the challenges regarding citizens\u2019 access to quality healthcare in Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, the health screening formed part of the activities earmarked for this year\u2019s World Hypertension Day Celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Yeboah encouraged residents and Ghanaians in general to prioritize their health and undergo regular check-ups.
