{"id":197,"date":"2020-12-31T02:59:40","date_gmt":"2020-12-31T02:59:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africanewsradio.com\/?p=197"},"modified":"2020-12-31T02:59:41","modified_gmt":"2020-12-31T02:59:41","slug":"unexplained-wealth-in-office-nailed-procurement-authority-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africanewsradio.com\/index.php\/unexplained-wealth-in-office-nailed-procurement-authority-boss\/","title":{"rendered":"Unexplained Wealth in Office Nailed Procurement Authority Boss"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Barely days after the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) was sacked by<br>the President following a damning report on him by the Commissioner of the Commission for Human<br>Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), it has emerged that the investigative body came across<br>evidence of the movement of some unusual funds through his accounts which formed the basis to nail<br>him.<br>By a letter dated Friday, 30 th October, 2020, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-<br>Addo, terminated the appointment of Mr. Adjenim Boateng Adjei from office as CEO of the Public<br>Procurement Authority with immediate effect.<br>This followed the submission of a report to the President by the Commissioner of the Commission for<br>Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Mr. Joseph Whittal, in which the Commission<br>concluded that, on the totality of the evidence, Mr. Adjenim Boateng Adjei had put himself in a position<br>where his personal interest conflicted with the performance of his functions as CEO and Board Member<br>of the PPA.<br>Prior to the submission of the report by the CHRAJ Boss, President Akufo-Addo had to suspend the PPA<br>Boss from Office on 22 nd August, 2019, following the broadcast of allegations made against him in an<br>investigative documentary conducted by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, titled<br>\u201cContracts for Sale\u201d.<br>The President, subsequently referred the allegations involving conflict of interest to CHRAJ, and those<br>relating to potential acts of corruption to the Office of Special Prosecutor, for their action.<br>The letter signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, said,\u201d Having<br>satisfied himself of the fact that the recommendation made by CHRAJ is properly motivated and well-<br>founded, the President has expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Joseph Whittal and CHRAJ<br>for the thorough and methodical manner in which the matter has been addressed.\u201d<br>According to the information gathered, the beleaguered PPA boss allegedly could not offer cogent<br>explanations to back the evidence of established movement of large volumes of cash through his Bank<br>Accounts between March 2017 and August 2019.<br>The CHRAJ report suggested that, the huge volume of cash that passed through his Bank Account was<br>far in excess of his income.
