PRINPAG Condemns Attack on Journalist Samuel Addo; Calls For Justice and Protection of Press Freedom
The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) strongly condemns the recent assault on Mr. Samuel Addo, a journalist with Class Media Group, while he was performing his professional duties.
This unprovoked attack against a media professional is unacceptable and constitutes a direct violation of press freedom, a right guaranteed under Article 162 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana. Any attempt to intimidate, obstruct, or harm journalists in the course of their work undermines the democratic principles upon which our nation is built.
PRINPAG calls on the relevant authorities, including the Ghana Police Service and the Ministry of the Interior, to conduct a prompt, thorough, and transparent investigation into this incident. Those responsible must be identified, held accountable, and subjected to the full force of the law. Delivering justice in this case is essential not only for Mr. Addo but also to affirm that such acts will not be tolerated in a democratic society.
We further urge the public and security agencies to recognize the essential role journalists play in Ghana’s democracy. Media practitioners are partners in nation-building, providing citizens with information and holding power to account. They deserve protection, not harassment.
PRINPAG stands in solidarity with Mr. Addo and all journalists working under increasingly challenging conditions. We remain committed to safeguarding the rights, safety, and independence of media professionals, and to advocating for a free, safe, and responsible press in Ghana.

President
