The Trader Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) has expressed surprise at calls from certain stakeholders urging President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to assent to the recently passed Ghana Shippers’ Authority law.
TAGG finds these objections unexpected, given that the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has been proactively engaging stakeholders since the law’s passage. The Authority has maintained open dialogue on how to implement the law effectively, aiming to make Ghana an attractive and competitive trading destination.
TAGG emphasizes that the GSA has shown a strong commitment to considering feedback from the business community while preparing the Legislative Instrument (L.I.) that will bring the law into full effect. This ongoing engagement demonstrates the Authority’s dedication to ensuring that the new law serves the interests of all stakeholders in the shipping and logistics sector.
TAGG believes that the law is vital for the industry’s growth and cautions against any efforts to undermine it.
They urge the President to scrutinize the law thoroughly and expedite its assent, as it is expected to position Ghana favorably on the global commercial shipping scene.
To the wider trading community, TAGG assures that the law will bring positive changes for shippers and the broader commercial shipping industry.
They encourage any stakeholders with concerns about the L.I. to participate in ongoing discussions with the GSA, as the necessary adjustments are made.
